The Engineering Department of the Miguel Hernández University consists of two different sections: Agroforestry Engineering and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology.

The Agroforestry Engineering section, located on the Orihuela campus (Desamparados), is responsible for teaching the main engineering competencies in the Degree in Agri-Food and Agro-environmental Engineering and postgraduate programs leading to Master and Doctorate degrees, directly related to engineering in the agricultural sector and the agri-food industry, such as Hydraulics, Irrigation Systems, Rural Electrification, Mechanization, Structures, Agricultural Buildings, Agricultural Facilities and Engineering Projects. Our research activity focuses on four main areas: the study and analysis of the efficiency in the use of water and energy in agriculture, the use of plant residues as construction materials, the use of new construction materials for protection against fires and the development of projects in the agricultural and food industry.

The Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology section, on the Sant Joan d’Alacant campus, is responsible for teaching undergraduate degrees in the main basic competencies in the Pharmacy curriculum, such as Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Care, Regulations and Pharmaceutical Legislation, Pharmacy Management and Clinical Pharmacy. The section offers postgraduate training leading to a doctoral degree in the fields of Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmacy applied to the clinical and preclinical development of drugs. Our research focuses on three main areas: the optimization of preclinical models to predict drug pharmacokinetics, modeling and simulation in biomedicine, in particular for the simulation of clinical trials and PK-PD population analysis, and pharmaceutical care and optimization. of the patient’s therapy.
